I offer In-Person and Online lessons on trad fiddle, violin, viola, piano, ukulele and bodhran. My students love their lessons, find them inspiring, fun and really productive.
I also offer a super-tutor service. This means that I am happy to ‘live in’ with a client during holiday periods and weekends. The super-tutor service is a great way of honing an intense learning experience and is especially beneficial for students preparing for places at specialist schools and further education.
The lessons I provide are a collaboration between myself and the learner. By using this approach, the learner is quickly put at ease and the balance of power is nicely and evenly distributed. As a tutor I like to think of myself as a guide and as an equal player to the student.
My teaching style can vary depending on your needs. Some students like a more directive or prescriptive and goal orientated approach. Others prefer a more student-led type of learning environment. I have experience in both these spheres and I am more than happy to continue with these formats.
Costs: Three way lesson – paired – single lessons
30 mins £7.50 – £10 – £15
45 mins £10 – £15 – £20
1 hour £15 – £20 – £25

My terms and conditions are very simple. Like all music schools, I ask students to pay a block of lessons two days in advance. I expect students to complete periods of lessons equivalent to school terms to get the most from their studies. All the lessons in the term should be paid. This can be done either monthly or termly. If a lesson is missed due to sickness there may be the opportunity to reinstate it during the school holidays, otherwise all cancellations or expectant ones will jeopardise the fee. A month’s notice is expected for discontinuing. Lessons to be paid by cheque or bank transfer.
Unlike most music tutors and teaching services, I do not expect students to audition and I am more than happy to keep a very open mind to those who seek lessons irrespective of previous experience.
